A Trip Through The Decades

All night party with food and games. The after Prom Party has been an event most juniors and seniors look forward to.

This year the after prom party is being held on June 8th, from midnight to 6 am. The party will be held traditionally throughout the Whitney Point High School.

The theme for he party this year is a wild and crazy trip through the decades. This includes different games and such from past generations.

The after prom committee consists of 10 students and 10 parents so far this year. They have started some of the planning, but they are facing some difficulties.

Mrs. Somerwil says, “There has been a lack of interest from students and funds this year.” They are trying to fund raise $5,000 but right now they have no money.

Though Mrs. Somerwil has said, “ They will be having the hypnotist and doing some high-tec games like Deal or No Deal or some other 70's game shows.”

The students are responsible for coming up with the ideas of what they want to do and parents are in charge of gathering prizes and decorations.

On the night of the party, parents and members of the PTA help supervise the event so its a fun and safe alternate for the students after the annual prom held at the Hathaway House in Macgraw.

This will be the 20th after prom party that has been held at the school. Instead of renting out some other place they hold it at the school for cost efficiency reasons.

Next Wednesday, April 3rd the committee will have a meeting to make further plans for the games, food and schedule for the night.

On April 8th the parents will have a meeting to discuss the students ideas, fund raising and any ideas of their own.
