FCCLA

FCCLA is one of our more unconventional clubs. The name Family, Career and Community Leaders of America clearly shows what their priorities are.
FCCLA member Sara Wilson said, “FCCLA teaches us how to make our community
better.”
FCCLA is bringing home medals for many events even though there are only three members. Community service like the penny drive for “Feed the Children” is just one project FCCLA has done.
At the state competition in the first week of April they gave a presentation on their penny drive for “Feed The Children” .
The kids made a book about what they learned from the community service project. When they go to the National Competition in Orlando in July they will present the book again and they will attend workshops and other events. They will give more
presentations and they will also demonstrate some skills they will need for interviews.
FCCLA is not only a time to have fun, it also sets its members up for the future. Having FCCLA behind them, helps them get into college. It also has scholarship opportunists.
FCCLA teaches the kids responsibility and good values. They also show kids how to
participate in an interview. Having skills help you when you enter the real world, FCCLA helps you gain some impressive skills.
Sara Wilson was elected to state office as the '08-09 Historian. There are seven students throughout NY State who will hold office. They will be planning and conducting workshops for many meetings throughout the year. They will also be planning a state meeting for next spring.
