The Baseball Team Starts Fresh

The Varsity team had three wins this year. The first one was at Chenango Forks 9-8, the second one was at Norwich 4- 2, and the third one was at home against Seton Catholic 14-13.

Seton was their last game of the season and Luschwitz scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th. “it was great we won, it was probably one of my most memorable moments of the year” said jones

The team had their sectionals game at Dryden and finished their season with an 9 -2 loss. Wade says, “I was disappointed we could of done better, aaron pitched good but we didn't have a lot of runs. it was consistent to how we play during the regular season.”

The team is lead by first time Whitney Point coach Jahn Greenfield, assisted by Tim Pisarczyk.

The baseball team has 12 members; a majority of them are seniors. The Seniors are Andrew Jones, Dustin Luschwitz, Eric Mingos, Max Raterman, Colton Covill, Dustin Crandall, Aaron Singer, Pat Burnett, Brent Pangburn, Charlie Blacknell, and Matt Wade. Nir Swenson is the only one that is not, he is a junior.

The team had their first game at Susquehanna Valley, the team lost 1-3. They also lost the second game at home against Chenango Valley by a large margin. On a positive note Whitney Point is the first team to score against Chenango Valley.

Crandall who is one of the starting pitchers was out for a couple weeks of the season, due to a gym class accident. Along with Crandall starting first basemen Jones, he was out for two weeks for elbow problems.

Raterman was out for the majority of the season. He had dislocated and fractured his knee. Raterman has to have surgery it will be his second one of the year, the first one he got was at the beginning of the basketball season.
